A HUGE thank you to Sienna Plantation for choosing Ron to be a part of such a wonderful contest!!
On December 15, 2014, four year old Connor was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG). Within days, Connor lost his ability to swallow, speak and move. He immediately underwent in-patient radiation and chemotherapy treatment for 30 days at MD Anderson in Houston, Texas. This treatment only halted the tumor growth temporarily and despite a courageous effort, Connor never regained his ability to walk or full functionality of the right side of his body. Despite his heroic effort, Connor lost his battle against this terrible pediatric cancer on October 29, 2015.
What is DIPG?
DIPG is a rare, inoperable brain tumor found in the pons, a part of the brainstem that controls essential bodily functions. There is currently no cure and treatment options are limited. As the tumor grows, it deprives a child of the ability to move, communicate and even to eat and drink. DIPG affects children almost exclusively, typically between 5– 10 years old. It is the leading cause of death from pediatric brain cancer. Over 99% of children diagnosed with DIPG survive less than 2 years.
About the Foundation: Connor Man Defeat DIPG Foundation was created in memory of the amazing Connor Michael Olympia, who lived life to the fullest. Their mission is to identify and fund research dedicated to finding effective treatment options and, ultimately a cure, for this devastating cancer. Their work to fund research is critical, and they are determined to change the outcome for other families. In the past few years, due to developments in medical technology and increased access to tumor tissue, medical researchers are optimistic that progress will be made in the fight against DIPG. The entire amount spent annually on DIPG research is 0.0005% of the total funding for cancer research. We must provide the resources. Every dollar matters to help these kids. We ask you to join our team and become a superhero in the battle against DIPG! You can make a difference. Please learn more about our Amazing Connor Man, and DONATE today at www.connorman.org.
The Connor Man Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that exists to identify and fund research dedicated to finding alternative and effective treatment options and ultimately a cure for DIPG. 100% of all donations go towards research to find a cure for DIPG.
